The last New Codes before Berlin Atonal 2016 (festival ticket and line-up information released from 17. May) invites festival family-members as well as some fresh faces to the three rooms of Tresor, Globus and OHM on the night of Friday 26. June.
Down in Tresor, the big news is Sigha performing the public premiere of his live show, something the initiates had a sonic glimpse of at last month’s special Avian birthday party. Those that were there will tell you that the immaculately crisp forward-moving rhythms sound as if tailor-made for the famous Tresor vault. After the premiere of his Fatal Light Attraction at Berlin Atonal last year, Samuel Kerridge returns to the premises for one of his legendary darker-than-pitch sets. Genre-defying Felix K (with releases on, for example, Blackest Ever Black, Dystopian, and Samurai Horo) joins them while Inga Mauer rounds off the bill.
The inimitable shapeshifting Glaswegians Optimo lead the charge upstairs. DJ duo Twitch and Jonnie Wilkes have done almost there is to do in music over the years: founding one of the first venues in Europe to book the likes of Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin, owning labels that put out stuff from Coil and Chris and Cosey and taking their legendary and confounding DJ sets all around the world. Now they join us at New Codes. The mastermind of dark and demented electro Marco Bernardi, manages to take time off his numerous activities to augment this killer line-up. While the Under Bron squad Sling + Samo and Nadja Chatti will take exile to celebrate mid-summer in Berlin.
Calling OHM home for the night are Presha and stablemates from his Samurai Horo label. Ancestral Voices, Ena, Felix K, Presha and Sam KDC all mix it up throughout the night.
Tickets available on the door.
